ABOUT ME

Lindsay M. Adler

I value authenticity, empathy, compassion, and integrity. I believe in everyone's ability to create change, heal, and live life fully. I collaborate with my clients to create a plan that will lead to the most holistic healing. I believe every person is whole and has an inner ability to change. I use a balance of deep compassion and empathy while I support my clients to understand and connect to their inner wisdom and power. I am trained in a wide variety of therapeutic and somatic techniques, which I use to help clients grow and heal.

YOU'RE NOT ALONE... I CAN HELP.

EDUCATION

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. Immediately upon graduation, I began working in eating disorder treatment facilities. I continue to work with those struggling with eating disorders and co-occurring trauma.

TRAINING AND ADVANCED CERTIFICATIONS

While working in eating disorder treatment facilities, I realized the complex biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors involved with eating disorders required expanding my training to better help those struggling with eating disorders. Since then, I have completed extensive specialized training programs in treating eating disorders, trauma, and developmental wounds through somatic therapies, equine-based therapy, and yoga. I have completed advanced training, continuing education, and supervision to become a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. Later, I completed additional requirements to be able to consult and supervise others seeking this distinction. In hopes of integrating the mind-body connection into my work, I became an experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. Next, I was trained and Certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), an evidence-based treatment for all forms of trauma. I expanded access to eating disorder treatment by becoming certified in Telebehavioral Health. I later sought to expand my somatic work with clients by becoming trained and Certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Lastly, my love for nature and animals as well as seeing the healing that can occur through the human-animal bond, led me to being trained and Certified as a Gestalt Equine Psychotherapist.

EXPERIENCE

Before starting my private practice, my experience working with those who struggle with eating disorders and trauma included working in residential treatment, partial hospitalization (day treatment), and intensive outpatient programs. I have worked in private practice since moving to northern Colorado in 2016. I have experience in guiding recovery through individual, group, family, couples, and multi-family therapy sessions.

INTEGRATIVE CARE

All of my education, training, and experience led me to specialize in an integrative and holistic model for supporting those struggling with an eating disorder and trauma. In this model, healing comes from the inside out. This means I want to support clients with not just thinking differently, but feeling healing in their whole being by integrating this change in mind, body, and spirit. This also involves coordinating with other providers such as registered dietitians, psychiatrists, pediatricians, primary care physicians, and caregivers as well as family members and other supports.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I grew up in rural Indiana with a large extended farm family, which taught me the importance of relationships and connection with others and nature. I have had a deep love for nature and animals since I was a child. I moved to California as a teenager, where I learned the importance of having a diverse perspective. Through my time there, I grew my love for the mountains. Wanting a mix of rural and urban areas environments that shaped me, I came to Colorado and found a home in the mountains with open space that nurtures me.

I enjoy spending time loving and caring for my animal family, being a good steward of the land, reading interesting books, and getting in touch with my mind and body through trail running, swimming, cycling, and practicing yoga. When I have time, my husband and I enjoy traveling to see nature in other areas around the country and the world, including my favorite spot, New Zealand!
